celeron m VS celeron D

What is the difference, and why are Celeron M's so much slower (GHz) then the Celeron D? What speed of a Celeron M would be equivalent to a Celeron D @ 2.6Ghz?
 
I ask you is why are you getting a celeron? They are some of the worst CPU's. Especialy the D, which DOESNT mean dual core. You can get an AMD for the same price and its better. Even some p4's are cheap, but still better.

Yeah I know Celerons are cheap, I am just doing some research.

Okay now im not buying this, its just for an example.. Like you guys say M is in notebooks, then why in this below link are they selling a Celeron D notebook? Notice the speed.

If I were to buy a low end notebook why would I opt for a Celeron M @ 1.83GHz when I can get this Celeron D at 2.53Ghz, and if all other components were the same
 
Oh, woops. My bad.

You would get the M because its made for laptops, as in, it is optimized to use the battery more efficiently and it runs cooler. D's pritty much just suck overall. You should know, you have one. ;)

(Sigh, so do I. :( )
 
As others have said Celeron M's are mobile, and Celeron D is desktop. M=mobile, D=desktop (not the technical name, but helps to remember it by).

The Celeron M's are much better then the D's, mainly because they are low-end Pentium M's, vs low end Pentium 4's.

Especialy the D !!! ?? celeron D is better than celeron

The Celeron M is optimized for efficiency.. You know, battery life and crap like that. They are actually quite good. I have one in my notebook and I'm quite happy with it.

The Celeron M is based off the Pentium M architecture, hence why it's clocked lower but actually performs fairly well, and performs much better then the mobile Semprons.

Celeron D's are better then Celerons because they have a higher level of cache.
