Can I use my HD ready tv to view hd video from my pc??

Hey I was just wondering if its possible. I have a free HD port on my tv and my graphics card also has a DVI port, whick i hear can broadcast HD. Thanks :)
 
Do you mean you have an HDMI, DVI, VGA, or Component video on the back of your TV? If it's DVI, yes you can easily connect them, but if it's HDMI you will need a converter (under $10 on newegg).
 
hey thanks for replying.my tv has hdmi and pc has dvi.i have seen cables like that, one side hdmi and the other dvi.Sorry forr the use of the term "port" i assume that its wrong:]

All computer monitors above about 800X600 are considered High-Definition, so you have seen HD before. And to repeat what was said earlier, you may want to shorten your signature, only ten lines allowed.
 
even if it were dvi, you'd need an adapter

I see 10 lines exact in his sig...oh, and someone else told me that anything form 1200x1024 and up are HD. Where did this 800x600 come up as HD?
 
is there anything above 1080i? And your saying a 800x600 is the same as a 720p HD tv? If so then my god, I had HD viewing before HD TV's came out! Then, that means an X-box 360 or even a PS3 Can even dream to compete with my computer now! :eek: :cool: yeah another one bites the dust. That means you 360, in you FACE 360, IN YOUR FACE!!!

well 720P tv's are roughly equivalent to WXGA monitors (1280x720)

most tv's that advertise (1080i) are actually just 720P monitors, otherwise they'd advertise 1080P

1080P (a true 1080 screen) is roughly equivalent to WUXGA monitors(1920 x 1080)

and now there's UHDTV (ultra-high def) which is 7,680 × 4,320 resolution
