How much better is the Athlon 64 FX-55 than a Sempron 3200+??? The thing is i have socket 939 and i want to upgrade my CPU (sempron 3200+)...

As far as I know the only released 939 Semprons for computer manufacturers, The FX has 1mb of L2 and 2.6ghz so I say it would be quite abit better

Yeah, i have a Compaq Presario, thats why i have a 939 Sempron... Coming back to the question, i do gaming, my Sempron play pretty well, but i still wanted an upgrade to make it a tid faster, i guess im going too far with the FX, would an Athlon 64 work a lot better??? (ex. Athlon 64 3500+)

yes, and chances are is your motherboard wont support an Athlon 64 FX, so just go with a 3200+ Athlon or a 3500+

you might need to flash your BIOS

Donno wat kinda mobo u have .. but I had the choice of chooseing between a fx 55 and a athlon x2 4800+ i donno bout where u live but where i live the fx 55 is more expensive than the x2 4800+ the 2 difference is that the fx has and unlocked muiltyplyer unless ur gona use that 2 major advantage of the unlocked muityplyer and only single core i would say say duel cores the way 2 go good and cheap(cheaper than fx 55)thou if ur mobo doesnt support duel core than something from like 3200 - 4000 athlon i had a athlon64 3800+(2.4ghz) surved me well didnt really need an upgrade i jst fancyed it and good for muiltytasking(my new x2 4800+) jst remember wen ur looking for a cpu its not all about the clock speed look at how much cashe and wat kinda technology they use(eg 110nm(is it 110 or 130 dont quite remmber) 90nm 60nm(smaller the nm better)) and look at archatechture(sry bout my bad spelling wasnt every really that good at it)

id get something a bit more powerfull, cause he said he could go for an fx-55, look for procs that are in that same price range, but are compatible with his mobo
