spontaneous lost of connection

recently i've been gettin some wierd internet problems. after a while, i would loose my internet connection, but not completely. when i loose my connection, i am still able to talk on aim but cannot browse the internet. then after a while, i would have to reconnect on aim, but i still cant use my browser, it times out everytime. so wat usually fixes this is if i restart my router (unplug, replug) and that works fine for a while, then it happens again.

any idea how to fix this guys? any help greatly appreciated. its very frustrating having to do this about every hour almost.

hmm at least someone here has the problem too. but does anyone kno how to fix it? lol. btw. i have comcast cable internet and on a wired connection to my router.

If you can't browse but can do other activities my guess would be a DNS problem
it can't resolve the IP address.
try using the alternate DNS as your primary.

i got a belkin F5D7230-4. the DNS i get is set to automatic from ISP. i cant find if it is set to automatic detect in the tcp/ip. i kno each router is different, but would u have an idea of wat section that would be in?

i had this once, reset your internet modem, not router, and try,if its still being a prick, then reset the router and try,if still, reset both,if it doesnt get fixed, call your service provider and ask if the network is having difficulties,if not, call the router company and say gg for making garbage.

but in all seriousness,if it continues, then get a new router, mine was like that(my airlink 101 pos)i bought a $30 wireless d-link router, and used my old wireless card(wireless cards dont matter btw,you can use any with any router)and the d-link has only screwed up on me once in 4 months so,its good,it was fixed by a reset.

well for the first couple of times it happened, i restarted both my router and modem, then i found out that i only needed to unplug and replug my router. so thats wat i've been doing.

wat is the MTU and do u happen to kno wat section in the router config it would be in?

i called in belkin today and they told me to click clone on my router config in mac address. its working good so far.

edit. nope..... that doesnt fix it....
