Transferring data from old computer 2 new one??

So i want to transfer about 20 gigs of data over ethernet. I have set up the network but it doesnt appear to be working. I used on the new computer an ip address of 192 168 0 1. subnet 255 255 255 0. gateway 192 168 0 1. DNS 192 9 9 3.
On the old computer i used 192 168 0 2. 255 255 255 0. 192 168 0 2. 192 9 9 3.

The workgroup on both are MSHOME. and i used two different computer names. The connection appears to be sending but not receieveing.

Did you share the folders that contain the files you want to send?

I shared the folders i want to share on the old computer. Then went into my network places on the new computer and clicked find workgroup computers and it says nothing comes up

Do you have any firewalls installed?

well alternatively, you could get on AIM on both pc's and just transfer files in that if you have time

^ or get gmail and tranfer with that, it would take forever though

No internet anymore. No connection. Doubt there is a firewall, I'll check though.

if your using windows xp use the files and settings transfer wizard

It doesnt need the internet to transfer I think

is this going through a router or just directly connected to each other, in that case you will need a cross over cable and not ethernet.
