I have a desktop but I just curious that do you guys think i should turn on my desktop 24/7 or i should turn my desktop off when i don't use it ..Any sugesstion ? Which way is better for my desktop ?
Thanks in advance.

I would just turn it off at night, and put it in standby during the day if you plan on using it in a few hours. Any way really wont hurt the computer, but if you leave it on all the time your electric bill will be much higher.

I left My computer on 24/7 and I would have freeze ups all the time and after i restarted it worked fine i think you should do what ^ says

I wouldn't keep it on all day and all night because of the cost. Your energy bill will be a lot higher. I used to keep it on all day and it would constanly freeze up. I always make sure it is off when I go to sleep

Thanks, I read one topic some where state that letting computer on 24/7, will help decreasing the hardware issues because when turn on and off our computers many times a day, it will damage hardware easily, well i think this is wrong. Now i think i should change my mind..:D...:D

if you have a fixed month electric bill regardless of how much you use then knock yourself out. i used to go all out with servers and stuff lol and now i wouldnt do it because the bill will be as high as 300+ a month.

It doesn't really affect the components to start and stop all the time. If you don't use your computer much, you can set it to turn off the monitor, hard drives, etc, after you haven't used it for a certain amount of time. I let my computer on all the time running Folding@Home, and I haven't had any problems.

To all of the people who said that their computers froze up if they left them on:
It all depends on what operating system you use. With Windows ME or the likes, I could imagine it would freeze, but if you maintain your computer and have a newer OS like XP or 2000, you shouldn't have any problems.
