1. This is a single core processor, not a dual core.
2. It is a socket 939, not AM2.

Having said that, it is a great deal, if you have a Socket 939 motherboard. However, it isn't better than a Core 2 Duo E6300, which is priced at ~$190.

you shoulnt expect anything better than that for the price, imo thats a 150$ cpu, very nice for decent gaming, maybe not extreme but still powerful.

o alright i didnt know that.
well i have this motherboard

and i was planning on getting a intel duo for it but now im thinking of just buying an amd mobo with that cpu. what do you think?
thanks for helping

So you already have that motherboard? It would be smart to get an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 for that. Even though you may be spending slightly more for the Core 2 Duo processor then the AMD motherboard and the AMD processor, it is well worth the slight bit extra. The E6300 will cream the 4000+.

ahh thank you. yes im going to be playing oblivion. can u maybe link me to the cpu your talking about?
i have an awesome power supply, an atx case, that mobo, and thats it.
i would like to keep this under $500. i know i need a video card and processor and ram.
thanks for the info

didnt you say to keep it under 500, because the 7900GT i picked out has almost the same performance and its 80 less, but if loose budget go:

7950GT
2GB Corsair DDR2 800
E6300

yeah Jet true, but it all depends on the circumstances of the buyer

i dont know how to overclock btw so im not going to. will this cpu still support oblivion and intense demand? and will my graphics card be good enough?

it all depends what you want, a better video card with less RAM now and upgrade RAM soon, or worse video card with more RAM and upgrade GPU later

the CPU is the best of the best so it will support anything out right now, and that GPU can handle all games medium-high

i want the best graphics card, the best performance. i will buy ram if need be

Then plan on paying more than $500 if you want to play Oblivion. Oblivion cripples even the best graphics cards available. It also takes quite a bit of RAM.
