They dont have any sounds cards for them (yet).

Pretty much there only used for add-on cards, such as USB cards, SATA controllers, etc.

Network cards, video cards, and TV Tuner cards also come in PCI-E x1 flavors.

My old Abit AN8 had what appeard to be a backwards PCI-E x1 slot for the audio riser card. Perhaps they saw something like that

Perhaps, but thats not a PCI-E x1 card, it just looks like one

Next time, make your own thread... The cards are low-end to begin with. I can't find any benchmarks on the x1 versions, but I'd guess somewhere between the PCI version and x16 versions.

What do you mean. There are thousands of different kinds of cards for PCI!
