I was checking in my taskmanager and I aw iexplore.exe and I didn't have IE running. So I stopped but it came back again. After I stopped it a few more times stupid.exe or something like that appeared fo a second. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? The iexplore.exe is taking up all of my cpu at some times. Also should there be like 5 svchost.exe running?

ok, sounds like a virus. Run your anti-viral program. AVG is sufficiant. Then run all your spy/mail/bug/pest ware programs and top it off with a regisrty cleaner. Get back to us when you did that with the results lol.

OK so I've done the anti viral(Symantec) and spyware(Ad-Aware), got viruses on both them, then deleted them. However it's stil showing up in the task manager. I forgot to mention I was having alot of popups too, that just appeared one day. I'm thinking that's a virus? What do you suggest as a registry cleaner?

The Eusing one resolved my pop-up issue but I'm still having the iexplore problem. In fact after I did this the memory taken up by iexplore jumped from 28000k to 48000k (in taskmanager)

Could it be that I have page open in the background and it's monitoring what I'm doing? Is that even possible? That would be quite a disaster(stupid online banking).

Virus Thread

If I was you mate I would use your Anti-Virus and Scan Your Whole Computer. If you Dont Have This Pop Down to PC World and ask for Norton Anti Virus. This is The Easiest way to settle this Problem!!:) :)

Sorry I don't mean to be harsh but I think that if you look around the forums a bit you will find that most people find that NAV at the home level anyway is a piece of junk and is a total resources hog.

Just download AVG free or Avast! both of which are free and catches things NAV doesn't.

Well I finally got rid of the virus just today, I gave up and restarted windows. I have to say I'm glad I did this, my computer is so much faster now.

Glad to hear their gone, :) but did you mean reinstalled windows?

Anyway I would get;

1. AVG Free or Avast! to help make sure you don't get and more viruses.

2. and AVG Anti-Spyware.

all of which are free. :)

Ya I reinstalled windows

Right now I'm using a trial version of Windows Live One Care for virus protection and Windows Defender for spyware. If they work I'll probaly buy them.

Windows Defender is free, and it's not all that and to use the free Anti-virus programs.

I am Ex Norton Customer and have used their software from 2003-2006 until I came to my senses and switched to Kaspersky which I HIGHLY recommend.

I just switched my Bro over to Kaspersky today because his computer was infected but Norton couldn't even find the dam things
