Linux XP

My friend pointed me towards this website http://www.linux-xp.com/ has anyone here had an experience with this? It seems like a good alternate to windows for people who are uneasy about linux and like the windows layout. I will be trying this on my second partition to see what it is like

I tried it once, but it didn't seem a whole lot different than any of the others.
But then again, I didn't give it much of a chance, because my wireless card doesn't work with linux.

I personally haven't tried it but I know a few people who have and they love it.....I will be trying it soon

I would never pay for linux. It is like any other distro, but with some extra preinstalled software. Just get something like ubuntu, or fedora core 5 or 6.
Both fedora and linux xp are based on red hat, so they both use RPMs, and fedora (free) has an automated installer for RPMs. I would give either ubuntu (based on debian) and or fedora first before you fork over $$$ for linux.

There are a few good (if not better) and free alternatives to Linux XP:

ReactOS is a good free alternative. It's Linux/FreeBSD based distro that simulates the windows experience and has good Windows driver and application support :) Not to mention the fact that it's the fastest OS I've seen to this date. :D

Maybe installing a distro like SuSE or PCLinuxOS and then getting CrossOver Office (which runs a bunch of modern games and MS apps) might be a better way to go?

It's probably best to get something that doesn't lie about it's features... Notice how the MS Word program in the screenshots say "OpenOffice.org" -->http://www.linux-xp.com/gallery/
Also their use of non open-source drivers from ATI and NVidia violates the Linux kernel

I've heard nothing but bad reviews about ReactOS but I guess the best way to see is to try it...

Re OpenOffice, that screenshot actually says "MS Word document with formulas" which is true! .doc is an MS Word extension and that shot is showing it open in OpenOffice.

Using closed source video drivers does not "violate the Linux kernel", it may go against the idea of Linux but open source video drivers are not really up to the task yet so you'll probably find the majority of Linux Desktop users use closed source video drivers.
