i think it will be a long time before we see midrange quad core CPU's, i think that they will be quite expensive for quite a long time

Now for the GPU the midrange 8 series will be coming out in the 1Q of this year like the 8600GS/GT ect.

The Q6600 is out, and by Q2 it will be around $500.

It will be a while before we see quad cores and DX10 cards priced like dual cores and DX9 is today, but it should happen pretty soon with Vista being released and all.

Still, $60 is deffinetly worth it.

well they do and there a lot cheaper than zipzoomfly

$60 isn't that much considering that your spending +$900 on a CPU
 
i would definetely wait for the quad core, but since vista will require dx10 it might be a good idea to purchase a dx10 card soon (but not too soon).
