My friend said someone hacked his computer the other day. there were people on it some how and they were talking through his speakers to him and they ****ed up lots of stuff. they told him they were going to post somehting on the internet... or something, so he disconnected the internet and unplugged the computer. he's trying to fix it but its messed. Is this like a common thing, at all, i mean i didnt even know it was possible lol. if anyone could give me any info on this and what was going on that would be great.

It sounds like your friend ended up in a vulgar chat room where some were making threats. This is why they were heard through the speakers. If he had been on a forum somewhere it would have been text only in responses. Any "hacking" seen could only happen if remote access was already enabled and someone managed to get something on the system there. Perhaps when logged on someone had hacked the online account there to be seeing this. Then the rpc was accessed remotely.

He He, no proud of this but atleast it will be some helpful info...

In highschool I used to open remote servers on computers after shutting down the virus scanners. Using a handy program called "Optix" u could target that computer and do anything you could think of to it. That includes speaking from one end as if you were ina conferece and they didnt know it. But trojans like that are easily picked up unless ur friend lacks a good virus scanner. Otherwise there is no other way they could have talked to him remotly.

It is entirely possible and you dismiss it as if you KNOW it can't happen. Give the poster some credibility... Yes it can/could happen. Just don't go to places you don't belong... and have antivirus running.

Rattle rattle rattle...?

I never stated that anything was entirely impossible. The most likely vulnerability seen in XP is the remote protocol proceedure. You still have to have something like that available like active x controls for someone else to snag! Some part of Windows has to be left under automatic control by web sites for someone to hack into that. Regardless that system will need some cleaning now due to changes made to allow what was seen along with enhanced security! or...? again!
