my gateway, wont get alot of attention, only enough for an extra computer for myself or for a friend who comes over to lan.

i need it to play css awesomely, meaning no lag or anything.

Come on, you know we need some more info.

Does it have an AGP or PCI-E slot? Or just PCI?

onboard video wont work? with css?
 
If you want to make a computer dedicated for a server, you dont need a high-end video card, because you're not going to actually be in a game, just in the server app. But it is recommended to have a decent amount of RAM and a fairly high-powered CPU.

So yes, onboard should work fine.
 
I wouldn't go to cheap. My first video card i bought (before i knew anything) i thought it would be nice. I think it cost me between $30 and $50 and i tried playing Age of empires 3 and the damn smoke clouds came out as rotating blocks. It was ridiculous...funny....but ridiculous.
 
I purchased the one in my link, that was going over my budget of $10


its just going to be used for friends that come over to play source

not an everyday thing


plus i bought a case of bawls :D

now, next step. reinstall source on this computer, after i uninstalled it cause of freezing then buy another copy of source to go on other computer
 
well. i needed something fast.
and fairly cheap since i wont be using this computer.
my friends that come over are using it.

i have a good card in my computer

now, unless newegg has a card under 65 with FAST shipping *like 2 days* its ok
or microcenter

As I said before, get the x700PRO on Newegg for $50. And if you want, you can buy next day air and it would still be at or under $65.
