When they reccomend 512 that means get more i put it on a machine with 512 to test and it was so slow you couldnt really do much i would reccomend getting him a better video card and at least a gig of memory if you want to run it comfortably..

so, should i just get more ram. Is that it?

I would at least reccomend the ram if you want it to run decent and if you want a better expirence it woudlnt hurt to get a 50 dollar or so video card...
