To buy or not to buy?

Okay I'm really eager to purchase this notebook: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834220107. But with the new Intel Centrino Pro mobile platform coming out along with, Windows Vista, and DirectX10 mobile GPUs, should I go for it or should I just give it some time for laptops to get better and cheaper? This notebook on Newegg right now is perfect for me b/c of the specs and small size. I want a laptop thats fast and good for gaming but also 15 inch or less, nothing too big b/c Ill be taking around with me. IMO I think going with this laptop for now would be best and then getting a better one maybe a year later is the best way to go. I really need a second opinion on this one...

If you do not mind some of the bad features that the reviewers give then I’d say buy it. That is a real good deal for what you get. Plus a lot of ppl are saying they play games on it and it still runs cool. That’s a good thing. I like to see notebooks that can handle what they were MADE FOR! Unlike my mom Toshiba that overheated and shut itself off playing a 7 year old game! Her notebook is only 3 or 4 months old. it’s a shame to see that she cant use it for anything other than internet.

Any ways conclusion, if I had the money I would consider getting that notebook or one similar myself. A few things I did not like about the reviews, one being the mic to close to the speakers causing interference. Another guy said his would not power on from standby, it may just be a flawed (fluke) or he needs to do something else, my moms notebook will not turn on from standby when you move the mouse or push any buttons, you have to hit the power button and it wakes right up. So it could just be the guy has not figured out what button wakes it up.

On another note. If you like ATI better than nVIDIA here is the exact same notebook with ATI.

And here is a link comparing the ATI to nVIDIA.

EDIT: oh and a plus I saw, it has VGA, and DVI meaning you can add 2 additional monitors to it if you’d like, or use those features.

The 7700 is much better then the x1700.

Thats a very nice laptop, I was looking at it as well. As for DX10, it will be a while before they're out on notebooks, and most likely they will be extremely expensive.
