What resolutions does your video card support? Without support there for the 1680x1050 resolution you would have to view the HD broadcasts while set to a lower one supported by the card.
I am going to bypass the videocard and do cablebox DVI-out to Monitor LCD-in. At 1680x1050, I think I can probably get 720p HD output. Does my monitor need to be a "HD" monitor, or is HD just based on the resolution of the monitor?

It will work at 720P, but its not up to 1080 specs. And it should work right away, since it has a high resolution, which basically means it's HD ready.
