overclocking how to do?

hello everybody im new to this overclocking thing. I have a 1.7 celeron cpu and i want to know how to overclock it to the maximum and not let it burn up? if you need my computer specifications let me know

First, do you have a pre-built PC from HP, Sony, Dell, etc? If you do, then overclocking is almost completely out of the question.

Actually, since you swapped out the mobo for a non-Compaq one, the BIOS shouldn't be locked, and hence you should be able to OC it.

Should, being the operative word there.

i tried the overclocking thing on google and it says change you cpu speed (using the bios) up to increasements by 30 mhz but my bios shows 100-200 mhz cpu speed and when i click my system icon i the control panel it shows 1.72 ghz is there any program i can use to help me overclock?
