Ok aren't computers fun when windows has problems booting? :D

1. Could you use Linux?

2. You might be able to get XP home for around $60-75 if you look hard enough.

3. Am I correct that you don't have any CDs that came with your computer what so ever?

4. Could you borrow someones XP CD to do a repair on your OS?

5. Do you have any data that you need to get back (Documents, Photos, Music, Ect...)?

basically, unless linux can play every single game that windows can, then that rules linux out.

i dont have 60$, but if this doesnt work, i would be able to do it

yes, i have no cd, or cd key. i believe that answers the next question too

not really, most of the games and music i have is on my slave drive

For #4 if you borrow someones XP CD then you can hopefully start repairing your XP installation without a inputting a key.

cuz a friend of mine just bought a new windows xp, but he used his cd-key, (duh) and i dont have one of my own

I believe so yes, you change it to boot from the CD and then there should be an option for fresh install or a "Repair" option.

yea, its definetely worth a shot. thanks for your help, i really appreciate it, i'll try it in the morning, and we'll see if it works. thanx thanx thanx. i'll repost on my own computer tomorrow if it works

Sure glad to help :)

If I may ask where did you get your OS installed? and if you slave the HDD with XP on it you might be able to dig out the CD key...

and your welcome, your welcome, your welcome :D

oh to answer your question, i had a store custom build a barbones for me, but what they didnt tell me was that they dowload winXP and then microsoft sends them a cd-key that they use on all their computers. under that contract, they are not able to give out the cd-key that they used for my computer

naw it was over a year ago, and they said that they deleted their records six months ago. they refuse to help me now

ridiculous. that's proof that you should never purchase computers completely built. always build and install yourself. i can't explain how dead my computer would be if i could have never reinstalled windows.
