W......t.......f.............

Seriously, does any one have an idea? How the heck do I let a $950 computer die because of a freaking BIOS? I knew going from F10 to F7 was a bad idea. 1 boot, that's all I need is just 1 boot and all this can be fixed. HELP! PLEASE! I BEG OF THEE!

maybe try another motherboard?

You sure you don't have it switched around? I'm not the expert about your motherboard, but it seems like the manufacturer would have the jumper on for normal and off for reseting it. That way, you wouldn't lose the jumper.

No, its not switched around. Before when it worked it was off, then I had to find one to reset the CMOS. If I have to get a new MOBO I m may just cry. :( well, not cry but be pretty pissed.

Ok, firstly, calm down. There's no use in getting all worked up over something little like this.

Secondly, if the worst comes to the worst, Gigabyte should take back the motherboard and replace it for you. You did nothing wrong, right? You didn't stop the BIOS update process or anything, right? Just ring them up, make sure you're covered, and you'll just have to pay for shipping the motherboard to their warehouse (AFAIK).

Thirdly, do you get any power though the computer at all? Fans spinning? etc... Any beeps? Try reseating the RAM (use different slots, too). Pull the power cable out the back, then take the battery out for 2 mins.

Fourthly, I am sorry that this has happened to you over my instruction. I read on a number of topics that people have had the best OC results with F7. Sorry for any trouble I have caused - however, at the end of the day, you do take a risk when overclocking.

P.S. Don't mention you were trying to overclock if you end up having to send the motherboard back to Gigabyte... ;)

I get fans spinning, although the CPU fan take about 7 seconds from start up and then its on. I will try switching the RAM.

PS, does Gigabyte charge you for calling?

UREAKA! I dont know how, but it worked! Rambo your a genius!!! I'm so happy i could...not OC to far. Now that its all fine I only OC now to 2.7GHz MAX. The way I figure, 2.4 is more than good enough, why risk it when 2.7GHz is good? :)

Phew! I felt a bit bad really... But I'm glad you have it fixed now. :D

The question is - do you dare to update to F10 now? :P

Already did. F10 has got to be the most stable one out there. I'm happy with it. I have a vow that I hope I can maintain to never OC over 2.7GHz. 2.7GHz is more than good. It makes no sense to risk it if what you have does the job 5 times over! stock was good, to OC is like a hobbie in a way, no point that to go faster for no reason. I want to, believe me I do, I'm just scared to. Either way I get more for my money.

That's a good way to look at it. :)

I don't know how you got yours to 3GHz, or anyone else, but 2.7 Will have to do. How games actually use the CPU so much that you need to go any further? Any more than I guess you may be in it for benchmarks n stuff, I wish I could get 3GHz, but something telling me, not happening.

okay, now that this is settled, i don't really understand the whole f7 to f10 bios. you press a different f key to get a different bios? what?

I don't know how you got yours to 3GHz

I got it much further than that...

:D

P.S. I actually got the FSB to 510Mhz...

Shit, something is still wrong! When I restart it STILL wont post until like 5 on-off's later, and even so it resets it back to stock! Games are getting really laggy and picture quality is dropping! WTF? Help...again! Is there some setting in the BIOS I need to disable? Like it said in that link of yours Rambo?

The Version of the BIOS is the same as the number after the "F". For instance, the F10 BIOS is the 10th Version, while the F7 BIOS is the seventh version.

holy monkey squating!

are you gonna keep it like that?? thats crazy!! what kinda performance difference from stock?

and how do you reset your CMOS when there is a problem with a DS3 if it doesnt come with a jumper, and you dont have any?

It pretty much resets itself. If there any problem when OC (most of the time) It will reset the BIOS automatically so Jumpers and taking out the battery is usually never needed. Cool huh? And 3GHz is about normal of how far you can OC an E6300. My question for him is how he keeps it so cool and not running so hot!
