Hello everyone, i am new to this forum. First off i have a laptop that does not allow me to play the games i would like to. Now i am looking at the Dell Dimension E520. Total cost being around 1400. However i might be able to get about 200 or more knocked off because of work. Ill list the specs of the dell build: Intel ® Core™2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz, 1066 FSB), 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs, 320GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache, Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW, 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro, Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic (D) Sound Card, plus monitor and other stuff. Now i dont know that much about piecing together computers. So could i build a computer like this for cheaper? And if so how much cheaper. Thanks guys in advance.

this is without a sound card and monitor, but it blows that other system to bits and you can play any game you can possibly find on the highest of settings. Or for 200 less which would get you a monitor, you could go with a 7900GS Extreme which can play basically everything on high too.

i built my first computer four days ago on three months of this forum's knowledge built up and it was super easy and amazing. trust me it is easssy if you know what to do

Now i am pretty sure im buying from dell due to discounts. Would i be able to run any game i want on this computer. Maybe not at the very highest setting, but run them and run them well. Including battlefield 2, company of hereos, css, and many more.

If you got a card besides the x1300 you could, the x1300 and 7300 are poor gaming cards (if you want to call them gaming cards). I wouldnt get anything lower then an x1600XT or a 7600GS.

ok, but will i be able to run these games on that card or not? I will not be running anything else at the same time i play these games, nor will i be running dual monitors. This is a do it all computer as i am in college. Also is the video card something i can easily replace. Because if so i will just get the lowest model then buy a better after market one.
