Posting pics that are not attachments

Can someone tell me how to post pics that are not done as attachments. I notice on some forums that restrict the number of attachments you can post, the members have some other way of putting pictures in a post. They seem to be able to put as many as they want without limit of the attachment rule. How is this done?

You can upload pictures to Imageshack and then just copy the link you get which is at the bottom of the page. Then click on the Insert Image button and paste the URL, or paste the URL and put
tags around the url.

Thanks mrjack. Not being too comp savvy this may seem like a dumb question, but do I have to first put my pics on photobucket or imageshack. Can I just do it from my comp.?

No, the pics have to be uploaded to a webserver first, like photobucket or imageshack. They usually give you the proper code to use in forums when the image is finished uploading.

OK, so that will give you a link to click on and then open a picture, but how do people post multiple pictures that are already opened and when you read the thread the pictures just load for viewing like the text. No opening threads from photobucket or imageshack.
I am so confused
Please don't think I am trying to be argumentative here, not in the least. Just want to understand how to do the job.

Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account. It's free.

It will have an "upload" button, and you can then search your harddrive for an image you want to load.

When it is uploaded, it gives the picture it's own little web address.

This web address is what you use. All you have to do is copy it into the thread, and pit
around it. It will then load the image when you look at the page it is pasted on.

For example...

[insert image here]

This image is in my photobucket account. If you right click it and look at it's properties, you can see it's web address. All I did was put
around it. And it loaded right on this page.

just so you know the more useless pics you post the more bandwidth you eat up, and it costs more money to then host this site. However, it seems there are no restrictions on this site. This is probably because most people don't realize this.

Hmm...I can imagine some pretty money-hungry threads :P

Here's a new lesson then! The EDIT button! Edit your post and remove the images! If you forget how to do it again, just return here :)

From my understanding, wouldn't loading a picture take up bandwidth from this site only if it was hosted by Computer Forum? The pictures C.Whalen posted are hosted by Photobucket, so how does that affect Computer Forum?

Unless I just didn't understand what you were saying...

no thats what I was saying, its considered stealing bandwidth. This site doesn't host anything it just links images to the original host.

Its more of a web users morals I suppose. I just know that if people where leaching bandwidth off my website and costing me more money in hosting fees I would not be happy about it.

Anything you attach here would be on their end. However, this forum does have a picture gallery, and it was put in there for a reason. It was probably developed that way so web developers (even though this forum is a template) don't steal bandwidth.

I don't own or moderate this website so really its up to them to decide, but some of the threads on this forum do end up making other sites eat cost. So, really its not like I am debating this or anything just pointing it out.

And it seems I didn't explain it properly in the first place.

Ah I see what you are saying. Stealing images and hot-linking them here, that is frowned on for the most part.

But don't be afraid to use photobucket.com or imageshack people! That is the purpose of these sites, to host your images for free! Those sites are OK :) Or if you find a picture you like on a website, RE-HOST it on your photobucket account and then hot-link it. I've done this alot.

Yeah, I understand what you're getting at now. :)
