When they become available in the future, would the already Vista owner have to purchase them at a additional cost? or will they be available for a free download?

How'd you know whether they're coming out?
Microsoft should release at least one, and it should be free. Sp2 was free for Xp.:)

Im sure they will have service packs for Vista, but no one knows when for sure. And most likely they will be free.

Yes i think they will release one to patch up bugs and some security stuff and yes like its been mentioned they were free for Xp but for Vista it could be diffrent.

Afterall this is Microsoft were talking about......all money:D

That would be a shame if Microsoft decided to charge its customers for fixing its program's bugs especially since the program is expensive, but doubt they would sink so low. Thanks everyone for your inputs.

Well they charge people for that antivirus called Onecare and thats to protect microsofts own os lol:D
They should give that free too imo.

I think they are legally obligated to release security updates for free, since that would be considered a flaw in their product. Any kind of feature enhancement they could legally charge for.

I agree. Also, if they didn't make it widely available (i.e. free), their OS would get a bad rep, something MS can do without as Apple Macintosh is making a big push with it's latest ad campaign.

There will defiantly be a SP1 released later this year.MS is already looking in to testers for it.

I would imagine they would be free, as with XP
