Is it worth it?

The computer in my signature has barely performed well enough to do what I want it to do, and really it doesn't cut it any more. I was considering slightly upgrading, but that would mean a lot of upgrading, since a new PSU won't fit into my present HP case. The question I have for now is, what is the biggest drawback, my celeron 2.2, or my radeon 9250? And if the 9250, would a PCI nvidia be better?
 
the best Nvidia for PCI. If there's no huge difference between my processor and video card for performance, I might just get a new system.
 
I'm agreeing with Shady, possibly selling that computer and building a new one would be a good option.
 
Upgrading that computer will cost more than it is worth. Just build a cheap computer; perhaps an AMD 3200+, 1GB RAM, etc. What was your budget for the upgrades?
 
acturally build one is better then upgrade the one u have right now. a pretty decent one goes for arround 700 dollars and u can have something like amd 3800x2 with 1g ram and 7600 with 250gb hd.

anyways i would look more into the 1900's if you have the money, and a small c2d would suit nicely (perhaps a 6400)
 
well, my budget is pretty low, most of my money would come from my system and with my 19" flatscreen CRT that would go for 400~450ish, depending on what I leave in there and take out. The pioneer DVD burner is nice and so is the audigy4, but the onboard sound is screwy with the video card in there. Then I also want to upgrade to a 21/22inch widescreen LCD and that's pricey, so I might not sell my monitor just yet. So, yeah I'll have to save up for my system, so the lower priced it is the better, but then I still want something decent, mostly upgradable. I live in Canada so I need to know a good, cheap place to buy from that is not tigerdirect, their shipping is an arm and a leg. Please let me know what kind of system I can get for about 1000 canadian, if possible, please.

P.S. -what is c2d, and a 6400....

yea that. anyways, when you say 450$, do you mean canadian or american dollars? cuz canadian dollars would barely pay for the core2duo
 
Canadian dollars - 450's just what I'd get right away and then the rest I'd have to save up, I have a bit saved up. My preference is AMD, I'll be playing games and AMD is better for that, unless there's a huge price difference as the performance difference is small between intel and AMD. My general price range is 1000 canadian, as with the sale of my present computer it would take a few months for me to save up to 1000, but it can go to 1200 or so, but not much higher. That's my price range, in CAnadian dollars.

if you dont have much to spend, then an amd x2 would be best. get the 3800
 
okay, thanks. I've also decided to keep my computer I have for work stuff and then just get a seperate one for gaming. I'll just save up for it, but don't want to blow the bank. So, for playing new games at okay graphics settings and being upgradable, what is suggested? I'm just not sure what hardware does what, so the 3800 suggestion helps, thanks. What would be a good video card to get, and is ATI preferable to Nvidia for the newer cards, or vise versa? I guess I could ask that in the video card section. Any help is appreciated.

I'd probably go for ATI for games, I have Nvidia, but I plan on upgrading real soon to X1900XT, I'm thinking it would be a little expensive for you, what would you like to spend on a video card? I have 2 choices for you, one more expensive then the other obviously.

between those two, I would defenitely go for the 1650, since the video card is an important part of gaming, and the price difference isn't as huge as I anticipated. I want to be able to run the newest games fairly well, since I'm tired of barely running everything with my 9250. BF2 doesn't even work on my computer. The sad thing is is that I paid 200 for my 9250, which is 100 now.

which says that the x1300 is low-end, adn the x1600 is mid-range, so I would go with the x1600. Actually, 2Gb's of RAM wouldn't be a bad idea, it would be rather costly, a little less then the video card, but then you wouldn't have to upgrade for a long while. I'd recommend it.

It may not be Corsair, but I have pqi in my build and had it for over a year and a half, runs great and overclocking is a pretty easy thing to do. Plus, it's cheaper in price. ;)
