Help to choose a processor

Hi

I would be very grateful if anyone could advice me on which of the following two processors are best for video editing application such as Adobe After Effects 7.0 and for multi task operations.

Dual Core 6.8 GHz, Clock Speed 3.20 GHz, Front Side Bus Speed 800 MHz
Core2Duo E6300, Clock Speed 1.86 GHz, Front Side Bus Speed 1066 MHz

My understanding is that the higher clock speed the better, which gives me the impression that the Dual Core 6.8GHz is faster than the Core2Duo E6300 processor.

Thanks,

Tobias

What ?
No... Clock speed is not everything.
And what is that first processor ?
You got the name wrong, get the model number.
And there is no processor with this clock speed.

i believe the first one will be a pentium D 940 3.2ghz

the 1.86ghz E6300 is far and away the better processor, as shady says, more ghz doesnt mean more power/speed. The architecture of the E6300 is such that it can produce a lot better performance for a lot less ghz. :)

- 64Bit Dual Core 6.8Ghz (2 x 3.4Ghz Dual Cores)
- LGA-775 Design & 2 x L2 Caches

one thing to note is that the site is providing wrong information there, dual core 3.4ghz does not equate to 6.8ghz..

any chance of a link to what your looking at?

Yea, What kind of site is that !!
And for the question, any core 2 duo will kick Pentium D's butt.

Okay....That site is really wrong, almost as a joke to get people to buy things that aren't really what you anticipated.
