Is it true .......
a Core 2 Duo at 1.8ghz (e6300)is equal in performance as a Pentium D at 3.6ghz or an AMD Athlon x2 at 2.7ghz
Basically this is because of the amount of instructions the proc can do in a cycle (12 for C2D, 6 for Pent's, and 9 for Athlon's)...but there are other factors i wont go into (L1-L2 cache, heat produced, number of transistors, architecture, etc)

Thanks

Not true

E6300 perform better than Pentium D 3.6GHz, but AMD Athlon x2 at 2.7GHz performs better than both

hmm okay thanks.

Interesting, I'm not sure if it's true or not, but where did you find that?
someone i know in the warrock forums who i play warrock with sent it me in a Pm when i told him i was considering buying a c2d e6300.

seems he doesnt know what hes talking about then:D
I wont tell him though....he may get embarresed:D

that might actually be right...
in 3DMark06 theyd score around the same
but once you start OCing the e6300 then no contest

Duh, its an FX and technically not an X2... plus is an AM2... the FX-62 beats the e6300/e6400, but they e6300 is only $180 so there IS no contest, especially if you put the e6300 at 2.4GHz it beats the FX-62 anyways

yes, but you also have to take into consideration about how if your oushing the X2 to the limits, you'll need more then just stock cooling and some case fans... you'll need some extreme cooling... now the C2D can pusk like 2.4-2.6GHz on the stock Intel Cooler....

i got it from 2.4 - 3.4ghz on stock cooler :)... every chip oc differently

i even ran 3dmark06 3 times just to make sure it is stable and doesnt restart one me...

I'm waiting for my DS3 RMA.... I had some crappy half assed Abit IP-95 board that fried at 2.1GHz...

I'll be using my XP-120 and HR-05 coolers.... so I'm hoping to atleast get 3.4GHz... 3.6GHz would be uber sweet but highly doubtful

Try 3GHz. :D

Try 3.5 Ghz :P
