Do I have this setup correctly?

Hello Everyone.

I just recently built myself a new system. Infact my first new system in about 5 years, here are the specs:

Intel C2D E6300 1.86ghz 2MB L2 1066fsb
Asus P5NSLI
OCZ GOLD seriers 667mhz 2x512mb dual channel
Nvidia 7600GT
250GB sATA Seagate Baracuda 3.0gb/s
LG DVD-RW 16x IDE
Generic Case with 500w PSU

I'm worried about the temperature my cpu and mobo are running at. When I first purchased the parts, I setup the case to have 1 80mm coolmaster fan at the bottom front blowing air in and I had 1 80mm coolmaster fan at the back exhausting air out.

I have not attempted to overclock my system yet, so it's all running at auto and stock settings.

The CPU Temp was running (according to CoreTemp) 52-54C Idle and 58-60C on full load. This worried me as I read that the threshold was 63c. The system was also randomly shutting down and the mobo was between 40-50c. I know I didn't buy the best case or PSU, but I didn't think it would affect the temperatures that badly.

Anyways, I went out and bought 3 more fans and some Artic Silver 5 Ceremic. I removed the stock thermal paste and applied the AS5C. Without installing the new fans this seemed to bring down the temp about 2 Degrees on Idle. I installed the 3 new fans, 1 more 80mm on the back exhaust, 1 80mm fan on the side case, blowing air out over the cpu and 1 120mm fan on the side case blowing air in. This brought the temperature down quite a bit, but it's still not as much as I thought it would have.

Now my CPU is running at 45-48c idle and 50-52c full load and my mobo is running at 38-42c.

So basically, I have 2 80mm fans exhausting air from the back. 1 80mm fan at the front to bring air in. 2 side fans, 1 80mm fan exhausting air out above the cpu and 1 120mm fan bring air in.

My main question is, do I have the case fans setup for the best air flow? Should I invest in a better HSF or a better case? Any suggestions to bring down the temp that doesn't involve spending another $100 would be appreciated.

Ok, I just realized, that's alot of reading for a simple question.

If I have a 80mm fan at the front (intake), 2 80mm at the back (exhaust), 1 80mm on the side over the CPU (exhaust) and 1 120mm on the side over the PCI-E card (intake) is this the optimal setup?

The 80mm fan over your CPU should be blowing air onto the CPU area and the 120mm fan over your video card should be sucking air out. Other than that its good.

Ok, thank you for the advice. I'll switch them tomorrow and report my temps.
With my current setup and with writing this reply, my cpu is running at 43c idle. It was running at 45c when I was playing FEAR so, I think the thermal paste took a little while to set in.

Oh by the way, according to Asus Probe II my mobo is running at 32c at idle!! That's an 8 degree difference! :)
