Pentium E2140 & E2160 are dual core processors based on Allendale core
Celeron 430 & 440 are single core processors based on Core 2 microarchitecture

wow! 163 wow a 6320 with the same cache as all the others that can be OCed so easily!

and the 4300 for 113!!! it has a 9x multiplier for some serious squat!! thatll be the ultimate budget build CPU

$530 for the quad, woot!

And there making the Core 2 Duo's go so low now, but I guess thats why they changed the name to Pentium so they dont run the Core 2 Duo name :P

I mean 1.6Ghz, 800Mhz FSB, and 1MB of L2 Cache??

yeah but they have high multipliers for awesome OCs. i mean how high do you think a e4300 could go?

why are they dropping the 6300 and 6400 line? and do you think any other prices in the PC building world will drop cause of this?

This looks good, making my own computer seems like a better idea now. Don't know if I want to spend all my money though :P

it is much more than worth it, with this prices by beginning of summer who knows, you can probably get a C2D build for under 1k with dx10 that can run any game out. it is much more than worth it.

i am building a new computer at my moms after the april 22 price cut. i cant wait!! (we have a 6 year old dell, can even run age of empires. its sad)

thats technology. not only are they dropping them in price, but they are also adding more cache! i cant wait!!

the Q6600 sounds so appealing, however i dunno if its worth more than double the price of the e6600 because 2 cores arent even being utilised yet, let alone 4 cores which probably wont be even partially utilised for 2-3 years

No, not 2-3 years !!!

Games like Alan wake, Crysis and HL2 episode2 will utilize 4 cores and they will be released after 1 or 2 month after intel drops the price of Q6600

oh oops. what about everything besides games? and how would games that are out now run on 4 cores?

Quad cores provide better performance than dual cores in multitasking, video editing and rendering

and how would games that are out now run on 4 cores?

There is no advantage of quad cores in current games.

But future games will take the advantage of quad cores. Crysis will be released in June or July which is about 2 months after intel drop the prices

The Pentium name being revived for budget CPUs? I certainly hadn't expected that. That's likely to be downright confusing to less informed users, who have heard through years of adverts that the Pentiums are Intel's top processors.

Pentium should have died with Netburst :)

i bet they might slap on the C2D name for the 2120, i mean that CPU looks so appealing. i wonder what OCs can be pulled outta that.

but for not quad core games running on quad core, will performance be hindered in any way?
