Western Digital Raptor Problem

HI guys. I have a Western Digital Raptor 36 gb Hard drive SATA as my main drive. I have used it for 2 computers thus far, currently I 'm running it on an Intel D865Perl mobo, with a P4 3.4 ghz proc. My problem lies in that sometimes when I go to shut down the computer it freezes at the logon screen. My cursor goes from gold (gold cursor scheme used) to the usual white, and then kinda just sits there. I've waited many times in the hope it will shut down but it doesn't and i end up cutting the power. My other computer also had this problem occasionally so I figured it must be the HD since both were completely different computers. I don't want to keep cutting the power for fear of a bsod or HAL.dll is missing screen when I boot up the next time LOL. Wondering if you guys know of any issues with this drive?

Check if that problem occurs in safe mode. check the power scheme in control panel. check for viruses and spywares. This might also be an operating system problem. Check for patches in microsoft.com if your using Windows.. hope this helps

try this:

shutdown your computer in 3 seconds!

edit your registry

local machine, system, current control set, control:

set waittimetokill= 0

what does the power scheme have to do with it though? And check on everything else you said....:(
