Both AVG Free and Avast! are good, though I don't use either. I used to have AVG, though.

I wouldn't touch any of the free antiviruses with a ten foot pole anymore. For a security conscious user they are probably satisfactory, but for the average Joe who cannot recognise what's a scam and what's an obvious fraud, they are of no use whatsoever. I oversee a stream of computers which used AVG, Spybot and Adaware as their protection, and the amount of maintenance and manual malware removal was beyond a joke.

I've now moved onto other pay-for security programs which has reduced my maintenance time substantially.

My favoured program, and what I have installed on my personal computer is Prevx1. Fantastic program.

I use Avast, AVG and Nod32 best choice I EVER made was dropping Norton. Not only does it r#pe your system resources but I had more malware, and virus issues with them than every before. Since I started using AVG Avast and NOD32 I have not had a single issue.

None of them use much in way in system resources and as I said they work amazing

I pay for my NOD32, but I will tell you this even though it is a very detailed scanning program it does miss some stuff. I run all 3 of my programs every month, this set up seems to work for me

Kaspersky Internet security is a complete joke. What ever you do never buy Kaspersky. I got a 6 month trial code from a PC mag i read and after having it for two days i was furious.:(
But i stuck with it hoping things would get better (as you do) but they didn't. It will just decide when it wants to use 100% of your processing power, just like that, no reason, it just felt like it.
In the end i got rid of it, now i have AVG, Webroot Spy sweeper and Spybot search and destroy.:)

Macafee suite but only using antivirus and firewall. Does the job but I'm not saying it's the best.

I have Kaspersky Anti-Virus. It works great. I can't even tell it's running and it has been the best protection. Perhaps you just need to get a better computer?

I'm closing this thread, it's very similar to hundreds of others on this site, Mr Saunders, if you give me a valid reason I'll re-open it.
