HARD DRIVE 80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
OPTICAL DRIVE8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) double-layer DVD+R write capability

and HP:
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-50(1.6GHz/512KB)
Windows Vista Home Premium
17.0" WXGA+ Ultra BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
1024MB DDR2 System Memory
100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
DVD/RX blah blah blah.

they are both within $100 oof each other. critiques or suggestions would be welcome or any other comps which are in the same price range $1500-$1600, and might offer more. Thanks!!

I would go for the Dell Inspiron if thats what you mean;)

Hp are good too though.

yeah the hard drive is smaller and slower but still i supose that could be replaced with a bigger 7200RPM drive.
I still would go with the Dell.

How could that even be a comparison?? The Dell is so much better!

Better processor, better video, more RAM...

Why not go HP with the C2D?

That Dell would be pretty good with that graphics system. However, Dell's really DON'T have that great of build quality, HP beats them on that. If those are the only two you'll consider, the Dell murders it. But, try looking for an HP similarly configured with a C2D.

never buy HP consumer products. buy their business class. They are better built only cost slightly more (it not almost the same) and come standard with a three year warranty on their desktops. All of our desktops at work are HP business class (like 5,000 total) and I will have to admit they are not bad at all. I think Dell kind of sucks, and HP consumer products also suck. Their business class machines though, are not that bad.
