How many computers can a purchased copy of Vista be installed on?

You need one copy for each PC. Microsoft will not allow the same copy to be activated on more than one machine.

yes, as long as no major hardware changes take place you can reinstall as many times as you want. If you ever have any problems a call to microsoft can usually will clear things up.
Vista is a little more liberal in regard to reactivating Windows lately to see that one disk is used on one machine. When XP came out you would either wait until the next month or call MS if you had to reinstall Windows for some reason within too short a time period. When going to install XP on a new sata drive the first time here the ide drives were still plugged in but failed to see the mbr on the secondary master's Vista effected being a newer version while making the mbr change on the XP Home primary.
A day later when reinstalling Windows again thiis time with the other drives unplugged to see a stand alone installation the activation was immediate. But that was on the same drive on the same system. Before Vsta it would have taken several weeks for activation unless calling into MS. The ease of activation now is a means to an end. Reducing piracy by making it easier for legitimate installations to be reactivated in circumtances like this.

Hey, just to drop you guys a little line, I have a link into Microsoft. One of my friends has a computer biz and he has some ability to gain free licenses, unfortunately only XP. He has a Microsoft Sales Rep come by his office every now and then, and here's the info he gave him. He said this, I know we weren't strict on XP, but wait until Vista comes around, Microsoft will not allow the license hacks.
In my opinion, Microsoft makes plenty from Dell, HP, and other prebuilt co.'s, I think the system builders(residential) should get it way cheaper than the OEM price they charge right now. What do you guys think??

not realistic though.. you think microsoft would really throw out even alittle bit of the money they make offa system builders? Would any business if they were in the same position for that matter? I may be less realistic though.. i still think microsoft is gonna get hit with anti-trust sooner or later..
