Can someone walk me through the steps?

I have a p2 and I would like to overclock it. But I would like to know how much I could overclock it. Can someone tell me how to overclock and how to figure out how much faster I could make it?
 
I don't know for sure but if your taking about a Pentium 2 then I doubt you can overclock it that easily, and have to read the OC 101?
 
Dude It's not even worth it sorry, but if you are really determined and you plan to overclock it you'll probably have to do it via jumpers.
 
Can someone just give me step by step instructions how to overclock? That and how much faster I can make it is all I wanna know.
 
It all depends what kind of board it is, Some older boards had jumpers and some you could do it through the bios, the first thing to look for on either is a FSB settings. Most of the older boards you could not raise it mhz by mhz you had to raise it in jumps-66-75-100-133. What ever its set at raise it to the next one and see if it boots!

Judging by how you don't know much, I wouldn't recommend you go through with this. I also do not see the point of overclocking a Pentium 2 processor 34Mhz, but anyway...

Download a program called CPUz and see what motherboard you have. Then we will probably be able to help you out more.
 
Where it says motherboard only a few of the boxes are filled in. But it says that the chipset is intel, the southbridge is intel and the sensor is ITE. And that the rev. is A2. None of the other boxes are filled in.

do you mind me asking why you are set on doing this? quite a few poster who have a great deal of knowledge have already told you that you will not see a difference. a p2 is a very old cpu and oc'ing,if even possible, will be even more difficult because of it's age, and with your seemingly limited knowledge (evident by not knowing you cannot "click" on a jumper) you are setting yourself up for lots of trouble by trying this. I am not trying to put you down, i am no expert at all, call it constructive critisism(?).
 
Yes, that is very true wizle, if you are so set on OC'ing go get a Pentium D or a Core 2 Duo. Other than that, you should forget that you even started this thread. It won't be worth it, old technology is well, old technology, and it would be hard to mess with that. Assuming that you will see no difference, I would forget it.
 
He might be trying to practice for when he wants to do it on his computer. If so, I would suggest you find something newer as overclocking your dinosaur would not help a bit. You should be practicing on something that allows you access to oc in the bio and not by jumpers on the mobo.
