so this buyer has been selling these products that don't work, and i bidded on that item and won, but just realized that they don't work right after i won because i looked at his feedbacks and saw his them and other people have been saying they don't work. i've already contacted the seller about this and wanted to know if there was a way to retract my bid and not pay

ok, so lets say he doesnt reply back, or he say that i have to pay. if i dont pay, will anything bad happen to my account or my paypal account besides me getting 1 negative feedback? i wanted opinions from you guys here at cf
thanks

The most that can happen to is you will get a negative feedback and a Non-paying strike against you from Ebay. To many strikes and Ebay suspends your account. Next time read EVERYTHING before you bid, most likely the seller is going to hold you to the bid, because you didnt read everything carefully.

on the page it doesn't say that there's anything wrong with the item; says brand new. other people have left negative feedbacks stating why he still sells those items if they dont work.

how many non-paying strikes can you get before they suspend your account? and does it go back to zero after a few days or months?

Honestly if thats what you won, his feedback is very good considering the amount of sales he has.

16203 Feedback
126 Negative
166 Neutral

99.7 % is damn good not to mention you CANT PLEASE EVERYONE :)

Those are pretty decent numbers, I would just pay for its not worth the strike on your file.

I believe its 3 strikes and they suspend you fro 60 days I believe but i could be wrong. Your feedback stays what it was, but its not worth playign with because Ebay holds the right the kick you permanently, because it is their choice.

Like I said from what I read I wouldnt worry about, just stick to the contract and pay for it

Look at this way, its $7 Total if you dont like it you are not out alot of money and honestly if you hate it it is in your hands for not fully reading everything before you bid. I bet if you clicked on EVERY single sale he made you were read some good for the same product. Dont only look at the bad

Can I ask you a question here? Are you sure that they will ban the account for only 60 days. I thought they will ban for every.

I have 3 alerts came up and I didnt take any action. Do you know what action should I take?

Or what will happen if I didnt take any action at all? ban the account for 60 days?

Its really up to Ebay, they take it on a case by case basis. Also if you have alot of positive feedback they give more slack, if you are a newb they give you less slack. As far as I'm concerned 3 strikes it to many, if you screw someone once that is to much and you should be ban for atleast 60 days for the first offense. Second offense forever

Is $7 really worth the hassle, really, just pay for it, even if you throw it in the bin when you get it, it's $7 for christ sake

wow... it's a $3 item!!

Is it worth being banned from eBay for only a $3 item?

If its not new, file a report with ebay.

I was "banned" from E-bay and made a new account that day and made a purchase. They don't exactly have brain surgeons running things down there. I much prefer credible online retailers. If it's computer related I always go through newegg or tigerdirect.

And you are part of the reason people dont trust Ebay. Thing is if you dont want to sell anything, yes you can open up different accounts, but if you want to sell you have to verify personal info. I'm sorry I just think its wrong to bid on something then change your mind, if you were not sure about it in the first place why bid?

I agree, but also learn form this experience. Make sure you read everything before you bid on something

speaking about reading everything, I made a mistake. I bid on an item which I dont really want. I mean I was interested in that thing and after a few days I got it from my uncle. So, I dont know what to do. Anyone have any idea how can I cancel it in a nice way.
