Finding what ram, and how much..

Hey guys,
How can i find out what type of ram my friends laptop takes and how much it can handle... its for a birthday, and i cant pop the back open to look... i couldn't find it on ibm web so i thought someone might know of a site or something..
all i know is its a ibm thinkpad r30...

You can go to Crucial and run their scanner that will tell you exactly
