So i installed vista, my printer does not work with it and there is no announcement on their website that they are coming out with a driver

i want to reinstall xp so i can print.

how do i do that?
do i have to completely format my hard drive?
i dont care if i have to, i have no data on it i need.

because when i put in the xp install disc it wont let me install xp.

thanks

you can make another partition or add another hardrive and install it to dual boot along with vista.

if you're sure you want to wipe out vista for good, and you have an XP install CD, just open up a command prompt, and type this:

format C: /FS:NTFS

that will erase everything and you will be able to install XP after that.

i do that and it says im not allowed to format the system partition

i ran it as an administrator and stuff but it wont let me

how else could i format?

1. Boot of your XP CD
2. Boot into recovery console by pressing "R" at the following screen.
3. Type command "FIXBOOT C:" (No speech marks)
4. Next type "FIXMBR", read serious warning messages and press "Y" to continue
5. Exit and reboot.
6. Finally edit Boot.ini and delete line with or "Vista" on it and delete the folder Vista resides in.

what printer company is it? if this is the only reason you want it off just email the manufacturer and ask them if they're developing a driver. if not tell them they lost a customer, that always hits em :D
