Is there really a big difference?

Is there a real difference between SATA I 1.5Gb/s and ATA 133? Yes, I know it is outdated. Also, I should ask, will I have to have some type of driver for a SATA DVD drive?

Thanks

There's a bit of a speed difference in the transfer rate but not that much, and you always need drivers for new hardware a lot of the basic ones are just included in windows XP, but I would think XP dosn't have any DVD S-ATA drivers because there not very common.

And why would you get a S-ATA DVD? There more expense and don't really improve speed.

Its like your IDE driver. You have your IDE slot driver but can put a harddrive and dvd drive on the same cable. When windows loads it will sence whats hooked to the port and load drivers for the (device) not the port
