Pushing an E6600? How Far?

What is the farthest you've heard of a Core 2 Duo being OC'ed to? What is the average? What kind of cooling? Oh, crap, just tell me what you think.

Thanks

Ive taken mine to 3.62 with no issues. You need a Tuniq Tower or a Thermalright 120 Plus to go higher with air cooling really. Water can probly take it to 3.9 depending on the chip.

I've heard people getting theirs to 5Ghz, maybe a bit more.

But you'll be lucky if you get it to 3.6-3.8Ghz.

ocing to 5 how? jacking the multiplyer or what?

I was thinking about a Zalman 95 or 9700 cooler. I was hoping about 3.2Ghz, maybe 3.6. I don't know about my voltage, though.

Thanks for reps

grrr

i can take my computer all teh way to 5.0 GHz with 2.1v the CPU core

but only problem is, it wont run the 3dmark CPU pressure test or w/e it is....

i got the VIGOR fan cooling, the 150$ one with antec P180

2.1v is definitely not good. At all. Ever.

Unless you are purposefully trying to damage the CPU, I'd recommend you change the vCore to something more suitable...

Doing some calculations:

I'll take the vCore as 1.325, which is what mine sits at.

1.325v/2.1v x 100 = Percent overvoltedd (PO)

PO = 63.095238095238095238095238095238%

That's an overvolt and a half!

I meant PO has how much the processor was overvolted above stock, if I had said percent of stock voltage t'would have been 163%.

i was just testing..

i can get it at stable 3.5 at 1.525 cpu core voltge

but atm , i only run it at 3.2 OC at 1.45v cpu core, just to be on the same side.

its already over kill as is as stock (2.66 ) so 3.2 would do , specialy cause most factorys now do 3.2 .

It all depends on the quality of chip you received. Chips (even the exact same model) are of different qualities, and can be overclocked less/more than other chips that are the same. It all depends.

i've heard of people running stable with ddr2 1000 with a 8x multi and a 500mhz fsb

that's with water cooling, of course

you could probably get there with air, but your processor probably wouldn't last too long
