dual video cards

I bought a computer last night...and when it arrives, I want to be able to have 2 monitors/video cards (for no reason...but since I have 2 monitors..and when this arrives,I'll have 2 video cards...I want to try it).

I know this is possible (my computer app. teacher does it) but I'm not sure if the video cards will work.

One is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro (like 5-7 years old...its from my old pc)

and the other is a 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro.

Will these work? I've been told that any PCIe video card will work. (this is the computer I got)

Also, if this does work, and I do it, it shouldnt slow anything down should it? (or not by too much)

The X1300 Pro will probably be PCI-E x16..the question is, is the older video card AGP or PCI? If it is normal PCI, it will work. If it is AGP, you're out of luck.

Although, the X1300 may have two monitor connections, so you may be able to do it that way.
 
how can I tell if its agp or pci? I have it right in front of me so...is there any particular place I could look?

*edit* yeah I think the 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro has vga out, as well as dvi and s-vid.

Alright, So if I can get this to work just by using the 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro (having one monitor hooked up by vga, and one by dvi) and I decide to play a game, what happens then? All I need is one monitor...can a disable the other one or something? If i dont disable one monitor while trying to play a game, will the graphics suffer? (since the vid. card is being used by two monitors..and it cant be used to its full potential by one monitor)

Or is the bolded just totally not true?

As long as you have enough of the right slots, it will work. But if you play games, you should only use the x1300.
