Laptop Memory-Help Please!

Hi Everyone,

I'm brand new to this and to be honest I don't really know that much about computers.

I brought 1Gb of ram whilst abroad for my Dell Inspiron 510m but it seems to be the wrong one. The guy sold me a 1Gb DDR2-667 PC2-5300 200 pin but since then I've had a look on a website and I'm sure my laptop uses DDR?
I should of looked first but trusted the guy in the computer shop to sell me the right one!

Can anyone please help me with this and confirm what memory my laptop uses? Also is there a way of finding out what computer that DDR2 memory I brought is for? Hopefully then I can sell it and use the money to start over again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks.

I looked up your laptop, and I found that it takes DDR memory. That is confirmed.

This is what you would need for your laptop, DDR.

This is what you bought but didn't work, DDR2.

Basically, you should sell your newly bought DDR2 laptop memory since you have no use for it, Unless you have another computer in the house that will take that memory, Do you have any other laptops?

As for the DDR, I recommend you buy it off of Newegg.com, it's most likely cheaper from there, then it is at a store.

Halian,

Many thanks for your reply. I don't have any more laptops so I will need to sell it. I brought it abroad as it worked out cheaper but its ended up that I'm worse off as I can't take it back. I will try newegg.com to buy the next one. Thanks again.
