was wondering i built a new comp with a bigger hard drive faster processor, and a new motherboard, but when i download things it goes a lot slower what is the reason behind this?

Current system:

intel dg965wh mother board
pentium d 3.0ghz processor
1 gig of pc6400 patriot extreme performace memory
maxtor basics sata ll/300 hard drive which is a lil noisy

old system:
soyo mother board
pentuim 4 2.4 processor
wd 80 gb hard drive
1 gig or pc2700

it's got all kinds of internet security patches, etc. that really slow down the internet.

turn off windows firewall, use the half open connection patcher (google, i don't remember the exact name) just google sp2 patch

that should help. Your downloads will never be as fast as pre-sp2, tho.

wow thats odd my old set up had sp2 is there another service pack? can you get rid of sp2

The speed of the downloads has nothing to do with the difference in processor speed, or anything else. There are lots of factors that can cause a difference in download speed, such as downloading from a different site, different server, more people downloading a certain file, or more people are on the net at that time.
