sempron 3000 any good?

I an looking on tigerdirect and I found a barebone computer with a sempron 3000, are these processors any good? Things I mainly use a computer for are playing non demanding games like nfs most wanted and gta sanandreas and dawn of war and maybe a few other old games. I also do a fair bit of mild video and photo editig. would these things work well with a sempron 3000?

It should work fine for gaming and some video editing. If you can afford a athlon 64 I would go for one of those it would do better at video editing and gaming.

Semprons are crap for gaming. Mostly because they have less cache (usually half) of regular Athlons. If all you're going to do is office applications and net surfing, go ahead, but otherwise if you're going to be gaming, don't get a Sempron.

Actually semprons are good for gaming maybe not as good as athlons but they are better than some pentium 4's.
 
I have an older Sempron 2800+ and it plays my games fine like Call of duty 2,Far Cry,Prey half life 2 etc so i dunno why people always assume the semprons are crap because they are not.

I think if your gaming it depends more on how much ram youve got and what Gfx card you have realy.

But yes if you can afford better get an athlon 64 or something better.

People think Semprons are crap because they relate them to the celerons which are crap.

Lol Semprons would kick Celerons ass into next week:D

im not making exuses for the semprons just because i have one but there much better than an intel celeron.

Maybe so, but if you had an Athlon at the same clock speed, etc, you would get way better performance.

Depends on the game. Games like Half Life 2 are very CPU-bound.
 
I used to have Sempron 2800+ too, it was pretty good at that time... But not worth to buy it now.
By the way, What are you looking for? Building a new computer/ upgrade?
If you could tell us what is your bugdet and purpose, we could give some advice.
