Hi, i have an old laptop and its currently running windows ME. However i think ME is to demanding for it as it. Can anybody recomend a decent low demanding os that is relatatively easy to use, all it needs to do is surf the net and some basic word processing. Windows 95 would probably be the best bet but i have no licence for it and i dont fancy spending any money on this at the min, i have had a little experience with mandrake, but again this will probably be to harsh for it, any thaughts?

cpu; pentium 1 with 133mhz of pure power

I would recommend Freespire. http://www.freespire.org/ It is part of the Linux community so it is free. The only thing is Microsoft Word won't work. You will have to get Open Office which is also free because it is open source. The files will still work. If you have any other questions just post.

when i had a 133 i was running 95

95 and 98 are about the same, tho

should be able to run 98

they haven't released any updates since like 2001 for it, tho

thanks

hi guy's thanks for all the info, i think im gonna give this freespire a go. If i where to go with a MS option it would end up costing money, money i dont want to spend on a laptop nearing the end of its days. Open office is fine as i use that anyway i actualy prefere it to the MS version. Anyhoo thanks for all your help and ill post as to how im getting on at a later date.

chears
