Power Kept running for the Graphics card

Ok so i am using two (2) power supplies. One is for my system and the other is just for the Video card. THis morning my i turned off my computer and i for got about unplugging my other one. Power has been running through it for 8-9 hours. When i got home and felt the card it was warm *not hot thank goodness*

My question is, is the card damaged? If so how?

graphics card's usually run at a quite high tempeture and thats pretty normal its around 50ish degrees i think well mine is. and i suaspect if it was quite hot, to the point where it might damage it you prob wouldnt be saying it was quite warm.. so in my judgement it should be fine ..... but I would get a new PSU just cause unpluging it all the time is annoying.. if thats wat u do

That is a strange setup? Can't you just get a single PSU? That is the first I have heard of something powering a computer with two separate PSUs. :S:S:S

where do you put your second power supply, do you just leave it outside the case or did you mod your case to support 2? Also why wouldn't you just get a really beefy power supply instead of using two?

I am on a budget and those 700+ Watt power supply are too expensive for me right now. Besides i dont need so much power yet. Ill buy a new power supply when i do a full system upgrade.

The Second Power supply i use right now is outside the Case. It is really annoying too. How does it turn on without a motherboard? Well the 5V trick.

In general it's not a good idea to use an ordinary PSU just to power a graphics card via the PCI-E connector. The reason is that the PCI-E connector will only draw power from the +12V rail, leaving the +5V and +3.3V rails unloaded. This is not a loading situation that most PSUs handle well, and you may see the rails go well out of spec depending on the PSU itself.

If anyone's planning on doing this, I'd encourage them to put at least one hard drive on the PSU you're using to power the video card. This will provide a load on the +5V rail, and balance out the loading situation somewhat.

Besides i dont need so much power yet.
yet, you need more power then your current single power supply can handle and enough to warrent a 2nd psu :P

isen't there a way to get it to power on and off with the rest of the pc?

Yes there is, but i dont want to mess up the wiring. You have to tap one of the cables of the ATX Plug of the 2nd into The ATX plug of the 1st power supply
