[Seamus - 03/16/2007] I`m not getting a digital signal from my new XFX card. My monitor has the option of either digital or analog, but I can only see the display if I use the adapter and the VGA cord. If I hook up the DVI cord the monitor only displays "digital - no signal". The digital display worked fine with my previous card, a Leadtek 7300GT. I exchanged my monitor for a new one, just in case it was causing the problem, but it didn`t change anything. At this point I can only assume that my new XFX card is defective, but I want to be sure to explore all options before I send it back. Please let me know if there is anything I might be missing.
[CURTIS - 03/16/2007] Dear Seamus, Are you connecting via DVI and then starting the system? These ports are not hotswappable so you will have to restart the system everytime you change ports or formats. Also lets make sure you have a clean driver install. . Please DL the latest driver from
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and save them to the desktop. Then download the professional driver cleaner from
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Driver-Cleaner.shtml and install the cleaner. Uninstall the current video drivers through the add/remove programs utility in the control panel. Reboot into safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly after the POST screen but before windows loads. Use the driver cleaner to clean only the NVIDIA and ATI(if present) drivers and repeat this step a few times to completely clean the drivers out. Install the latest drivers from the desktop and reboot into windows normally. Also, please make sure that you have the latest motherboard updates such as chipset drivers and BIOS. Curtis
[Seamus - 03/16/2007] Yes, I am connecting the DVI cable before starting. I reinstalled the drivers before, but I just reinstalled them again and used driver cleaner, but nothing has changed. My motherboard chipset drivers and BIOS are also current. Is there anything else I can try or should I send the card back?
[DANIEL_E - 03/19/2007] Hi Seamus, try connecting both the vga and dvi inputs to the monitor. Turn the computer on with the monitor in vga mode. Let the computer boot into windows then shutdown the computer. Once the computer is shut down unplug the dvi cable to the video card and unplug the power to the monitor for about 10 seconds. Then plug the monitor back in and power the computer on with only the dvi cable connected to the vga. We`ve seen a few issues with monitors and dvi before and typically that will solve it. Also do you have another monitor to try with the video card? Daniel
[Seamus - 03/19/2007] Ok, I tried that and nothing changed. If the DVI cable is the only cable connected, I get no signal. When I turn the computer on the screen just stays off.

[Seamus - 03/29/2007] I don`t think it`s a defective card, but I just can`t figure out what is causing it to not display the digital signal. I tried waiting a bit longer to see what would happen and eventually (once Windows loads, by the sound of it), I get a new blank screen message that says: Out of Range: H-freq 33Khz V-freq60Hz. I restarted using the analog cable so I could get into the monitor options and found that in `Information` it says H-freq 65Khz V-freq 60Hz. I`m not sure what it means, but please let me know if you have any ideas.
[BRIAN - 03/30/2007] Hi Seamus, thanks for the update. When you first boot up the system, keep pressing F8 and when the screen comes up where you can select safe mode, select enable VGA mode. Then when windows comes up, shut down and then plug in the monitor using the DVI cable. Let us know if this helps. thanks Brian.

[BRIAN - 03/30/2007] Hi Seamus, it should be near the bottom and safe mode will be at the top of the screen. Are you able to test this card in another computer and another card in your computer and see if you can boot from another computer? let us know. thanks brian.
[Seamus - 03/31/2007] I`ve tried a different card in my computer and had it display digital, but I haven`t been able to test this card in a different computer yet. Also, I still don`t see an option to enable VGA mode. The only options are Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ Netoworking, Safe Mode w/ Cmd Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows Normally.
