I have a Intel E6600, EVGA 680i, Kingston PC6400 DDR2 Hyperx, and a EVGA 8800GTS 640mb. I am wanting to overclock the GPU and the RAM. What should I set everything to im guessing use ntune for the graphics card and use the bios for the ram. Thanks for all the help and I would appreciate some base figures

Why would you want to overclock that system? Do you really want to risk losing your new system when you didn't have to overclock it in the first place? That system has tons of power.
I want to smack people like you who always want to overclock new systems.

There is nothing wrong with overclocking a new PC. Unless your the biggest noob in the world, or a complete idiot, overclocking the right way will not fry your system. The minute I got my Core 2 Duo and 8800, I overclocked.

The point in buying a high end system is to get a high performing system, and whats wrong with gaining up to 30% overall system performance by overclocking?

Well said, quick frankly I found it extremely hard to burn out a system. I have tried to do just that by removing the fan off the CPU and when that didn't fry it I removed the whole heatsink, that failed to fry it too. The problem is that most motherboards have extensive protective measures to prevent your components from frying so they don't fry even if you try. I whole ALL my computers no matter if they are high or low end. I have a X6800 and I still overclock it even though it was the fastest CPU when I got it. Why wouldn't you want a bit of extra performance for nothing???

Even more so with Intel's Extreme's and AMD's FX series. They are designed with overclocking in mind, hence the unlocked multipliers.

Frankly, you would be stupid not to overclock one of those.

No-one can tell you where to set your settings, because every bit of hardware is slightly different. If you and your mate had the same set-up from cpu to ram to mobo to hdd to optical to case to vid card to psu, just because your mate ocs from 2.4 to 3.4, you can't say that you can get that far, you can only use it as a guide. The only person who can figure it out is you after playing around with your settings, but just make sure you know what you're doing, and don't raise voltages and fsbs and speeds aggressivly to start-out because that's how people kill their systems. Happy OCing.

Every chip is different, the quality of the chip plays a huge role. Just having a generally really overclockable chip doesn't guarantees that you will get huge overclocks. It relies heavily on your luck and fate. Sometimes chips that are supposed to be clocked higher are "downgraded" to meet quotas of the lower chips, and that is why they can be so overclockable.
