OC pentium 4

ok but why is it that everything speed/cpu/clock related it grey and unselectable in the BIOS? i just opened it and i couldnt do anything.
 
prolly cause your motherborad has it locked.....did you buy that computer....if so they usally dont let you OC them....you still can i think if some will help you cause i dont know how if its locked....i OCed my celeron D with ease on my biostar mobo
 
The processor can be overclocked, but it depends on your motherboard how much, or if its even possible.
 
If your BIOS is locked then you're not going to have luck. If you bought your computer pre-built at a store they have motherboards with BIOS that doesn't include any options to overclock because they want you to buy new computers. Plus they wont warranty something overclocked so they just take that option out of your hands all together. You say all of the options related to the CPU are grey and can't be selected? Sounds like you're not going to be able to OC with that board. Its not the processor that's not overclockable your problem lies in the motherboard BIOS.

ya i bought it. just from a kinda small canadian store called MDG. and my motheborad is an Intel(R) Desktop Board D845EBG2.
