Vista Pros and Cons

I work in a PC repair and retail store and these are some of the things I see / hear / observe

Pros:
Auto Defrag
Back up options
customization
gadgets
New Games
Ease of use
If used with Vista programs, hard to screw up
pretty background

Cons:
if you think your an advanced user, you now have the same level of usage as my grandmother

Very controlling
Flashy and animated
waste of resources
Not many thing you can change
Asks you before you do anything
Not many programs are Microsoft certified
Downgrades Hi Deff Video output
tough music rights

At least they didnt change MS Paint!!
 
well some is true and some ain't. since you're a tech you should make out what is true or false from these.but i believe in the following

flashy and animated - YES - but i want windows to be simple
waste of resources - YES - im not running anything ,why is vista a slowpoke ?
Asks you before you do anything - YES - now vista is becoming LINUX
Not many programs are certified - YES - not all program works. wait for a ServicePack
tough music right - YES - aww men..DRM..wtf ?
 
I personally have nothing wrong with vista.


Its blazing fast.

I guess some of it is personal pref..
theres no need for so much flashy stuff, its turning into a Mac...
Because of how animated and graphic intense the OS is wit hall its 3d, it needs a lot of graphics power, if your video card cant handle it, it has a huge impact on the system. Without a decent video card, ram, and CPU you cant even place solitaire right..
A simple windows is an easy windows, I don't want it to ask me if I really want to change a setting, I wouldn't click it if I didn't want to... Although it helps to prevent viruses and spy ware.. so my space people can space happily.

With there Digital Rights management stuff they make it really hard to rip, download or copy music.. Even though you own the cd and its not there place to say whats what...
 
well, the flashyness can be downgraded back to the win98 retangles with customizable colors.
The crazy "are you sure you want to do this" thing can be turned off.
a few programs and hardware don't work. example, my 10 year old hp scanner, God rest its soul. But if you remember, there were many scanners, webcams, and other programs that wouldn't work on xp.
And by the way, MS Paint does have a new layout, but i guess they still decided to stick to their exact pixel coloring instead of that crazy shading stuff.

Any program that doesn't have Microsofts approval wont install... It needs to pass by them first. And not to many companies have made drivers for older hardware.. They want you to buy the new stuff so they are taking there time designing the older drivers...

I use limewire to download music and I haven't had any problems what exactly does the DRM stop you from using?

Oh so if I want to copy that music to a CD than I am going to have problems trying to do that?
 
Im not an expert on Vista DRM, but as cuffless pointed out, the new DRM would be in place when you rip songs from a CD to your computer. But the main thing is now CD's are coming with newer DRM protection, so it wont be as easy to rip songs and distribute them freely.
