IDE Cable Problems

I'll be building a new computer soon and I will probably be getting a new HDD to go with it.

I know that SATA is better than IDE but I can get a bigger IDE HDD for less than I can SATA.

The problem being that the MOBO I'm getting only has one IDE connector, It's the Gigabyte D3.

I can't make my mind up though.

I can get a 120GB WD IDE HDD for £30 or I could get an 80GB SATA drive for £30.

I want to be able to have my IDE HDD in the HDD space in the case, but then the cable won't reach to the optical drive I'll have in, it just isn't long enough...

Is there any round IDE cables that are long that would fit the job, or any IDE cable extensions you can buy?

Or would it be easier to buy a bay convertor and put the HDD in the 5 1/2 bay?

Here is a picture to help explain what I mean, I'll be using the smaller of the two optical drives and have it in the bottom slot:

Get a SATA. They are more upgradeable and will be usable longer than an IDE. Also, using the same IDE cable for a CDROM and HDD is not a good idea.

It would be more practical but I'd be getting less space for the same price, which kind of sucks a little.

Why is it a bad idea?
 
You get the idea. But if you use a CD drive and your HDD at the same time, you can get some crazy errors. It doesnt matter what order they are in.
