freeezing

I'm speaking for my friend here because of his freezing issues. He got this used computer that was put together ( amd processor 1.3 i think, 512 ram, a WD 40 gig that didn't work ). He put in a spare HD and it worked, after running it for like 5min he noticed that it freezes when ever he opens any video. He thought it was the HD because it was only a 4g (spare), so he bought an 80. after booting windows up it still had the same issues and now even video adds make it freeze and he has to restart. any suggestions ?

After he installed windows did he update all the board and video card drivers?

I would update all my drivers then check for may be a overheating video card- weak P/S. Could be a few things.

When you say freeze do you mean crash or just hang for no reason? And does it hang when doing the same thing or at random times?

Been here since 2005 and have less that 3000, yea I,m really tryin to rack them up.
