case fans not spinning

how about the power supply voltage switch? surely if it's set to 110V instead of 240V it would provide enough power to light an led but not enough to power the system, has it been mentioned yet? mind you it would have no doubt fried the PSU first??
 
It depends on where you are using it. In the U.S. the setting would be at 110-120v while in Europe and the U.K. as well as other places the 220-240v position would used. If it is set to the 220-240v position in the U.S. nothing would light up. Besides a wire position problem the worst case is the board itself not allowing the current flow. A bad switch or misplaced wire would be the most likely explaination however. A pre-cooked board? That's a new one!
 
Thanks for the info PC Eye! I have to go to school now so I can't experiment yet.

I do see what one of my problems might be: I found the Power Switch, the HDD LED, and Reset cords. They are all very small. I plugged in the the power switch and the Reset cord.. but the HDD LED doesnt seem to have a designated slot!? I cannot find where it goes. Also the book mentions to plug in the "PLED" cord into the correct spot but I just dont see that cord? Maybe it is stuffed into a not visible spot or something? Should there be one?

Happiest moment of my life lol. I got the fans to turn on. I finally figured out htat hte power switch cord goes in freaking sideways not vertically. Wow.. simple stuff always kills me.

The PLED is the led light that indicates that the system is turned on. That's only a small led for that alone. Those two small wires are separate from the two for the main power button or switch.

One thing I do is always have a very small pocket sized flashlight along with a pocket sized magnifying glass to get the "CLOSE LOOK" at the small text usually seen on the board next to the pins. That helps verfiying you plug them in correctly. Once you get into building multiple cases you will see how that will be a pair of good tools for that. Hope everything else goes easier there! ;)

well you guys I have yet another problem haha.. lets see if you can help.

I had my computer running fine for a while but I turned it on later and BAM.. doesn't work. It goes directly to the bios and gives me a message:

"Message Confirmation

The system intruded, chassis opened or tempered before, please check the system"



I opened it up and could find nothing wrong.. then spontaneously it just worked again. Now it is giving me the same error.


Any idea?

am i right in thinking that some cases or should i say mobos have a sensor to detect when the case is open? if the mobo has the sensor and your case doesn't, then i imagine you will have to "short" the jumpers on the mobo that relate to it.

Well I have run the computer with the case open numerous times.. I don't know if thats the error..?

Check in your bios and see if you can find the setting and disable it, most come disabled by default.
 
Referring to the user manual for the board in the bios section. But most likely you find the setting if there on that model board in the power settings. On many boards that will be a separate section there. Look where you would have the "user defined" option and enable power on by keyboard/nouse.
